Therapy is a collaborative process, and finding the right therapeutic relationship is an important part of that.
At Chloe Reid Therapy, I aim to provide a warm, respectful and non-judgemental space where you can explore what has brought you to therapy at your own pace.
I work with adults aged 18 and over and offer therapy either face to face or remotely by telephone or online video, depending on your needs and what we agree together.
Before therapy begins, we will have an initial assessment to talk about what you are looking for from therapy, your current circumstances and whether the type of therapy you are considering feels appropriate.
This page provides an overview of what you can expect when working with me. Before starting therapy, you will also be asked to read and agree to my Therapy Agreement, which sets out the arrangements for our work in more detail.

I am an integrative counsellor, with a primarily person-centred approach.
I believe that the relationship we develop together is an important part of therapy, and that you are the person who knows yourself and your experiences best.
Alongside my person-centred foundation, I may draw on aspects of other therapeutic approaches, including Transactional Analysis, Gestalt and psychodynamic theory, where I feel these may be helpful and appropriate to you and the work we are doing together.
Our work will be collaborative and tailored to your individual needs. We can regularly review how you are experiencing therapy and whether our way of working continues to feel appropriate and helpful.
I currently provide therapy to adults aged 18 and over.
I work within my level of training, experience and professional competence. If I feel that another practitioner or service may be better placed to support your needs, I will discuss this with you and, where appropriate, help you consider alternative sources of support.
Before starting therapy, we will have an initial assessment. This gives us an opportunity to talk about what has brought you to therapy, what you would like support with, your current circumstances and any relevant considerations relating to your safety and wellbeing.
It is also an opportunity for us to consider whether online or telephone therapy is appropriate for you and whether we feel that working together would be a good fit.
You will have an opportunity to ask questions about therapy and how we would work together before deciding whether to begin.
Sessions are 50 minutes long and take place at an agreed regular time where possible.
Therapy may be short-term, longer-term or open-ended, depending on your needs and what we agree together.
There is no expectation that you need to know exactly what you want to talk about before a session. We can use the space to explore whatever feels important to you at the time.
Therapy is collaborative. My role is to support you in exploring your thoughts, feelings, experiences and options rather than to tell you what you should think or do.
I offer therapy to adults either face to face or remotely, depending on your circumstances, preferences and what we agree together.
Remote sessions may take place by telephone or online video using an agreed platform.
For online sessions, you will need a suitable device, a reliable internet connection and a private space where you can speak as freely as possible without being overheard or interrupted.
For telephone sessions, you should also make sure you are somewhere private and suitable for the session. Please do not attend a session while driving or doing anything that could compromise your safety or your ability to participate fully.
For face-to-face sessions, I will provide you with the relevant practical information about the location, arrival arrangements and anything you need to know before your first appointment.
If you have accessibility or communication needs that may affect your ability to participate in therapy, please let me know so that we can discuss whether reasonable adjustments can be made.
What you share in therapy will generally be treated as confidential. Respecting your privacy is an important part of creating a safe therapeutic relationship.
There are, however, exceptional circumstances where confidentiality may need to be limited. This may include situations involving serious risk of harm, safeguarding concerns, or where I am legally required or authorised to disclose information.
Where possible and appropriate, I will discuss this with you beforehand.
I also undertake regular professional supervision as part of safe and ethical practice. Where aspects of my therapeutic work are discussed in supervision, I take care to protect your identity and only share information that is relevant and necessary.
You can read more about how I collect, use and protect your personal information in my Privacy Notice, and about how I respond to safeguarding concerns on my Safeguarding page.
Email, telephone and text messaging may be used for practical and administrative matters, such as arranging appointments, discussing availability or dealing with payments.
These methods are not an alternative to therapy and should not be relied upon as an emergency or crisis service.
I will normally respond to administrative messages during my working hours and aim to respond within 48 hours. I cannot guarantee an immediate response.
For your privacy, please avoid sending detailed or highly sensitive therapeutic information by email or text.
Sessions are 50 minutes and the fee is £50 per session.
Payment is due on the day of the session and is made by bank transfer.
If you need to cancel or rearrange an appointment, I ask for at least 48 hours' notice.
Appointments cancelled with less than 48 hours' notice, or missed appointments, will normally be charged at the full session rate. Exceptions may be considered where circumstances are genuinely outside your control.
Any changes to fees will be discussed and communicated in advance.
Your safety and wellbeing are important parts of our work together.
As therapy is provided remotely, I will ask for appropriate information about your location and emergency contact arrangements. This helps me respond appropriately if a serious safety concern arises during a session.
Chloe Reid Therapy is not an emergency or crisis service. If you are experiencing an immediate emergency or believe that you or someone else is at immediate risk of serious harm, you should contact the appropriate emergency or crisis service rather than waiting for a therapy appointment or response from me.
You can find more information about confidentiality, safeguarding and what happens if a serious safety concern arises on my Safeguarding page.
The therapeutic relationship is a professional relationship, and maintaining appropriate boundaries helps create a safe and consistent space for therapy.
This includes boundaries around communication, contact between sessions, social media, confidentiality and the use of therapy time.
I will not normally connect with current or former clients through personal social media accounts.
If you have any questions or concerns about our boundaries or the way we are working together, I encourage you to raise them with me so that we can discuss them openly.
I am committed to providing an inclusive, respectful and non-discriminatory therapy service.
I aim to ensure that clients are treated with dignity, fairness and respect, regardless of their background, identity, culture, beliefs, age, disability, race, ethnicity, religion or belief, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, relationship status, socioeconomic circumstances or any other aspect of who they are.
If you have accessibility, communication or other needs that would help you participate in therapy, please feel able to discuss these with me. Where reasonably possible, I will consider appropriate adjustments.
You are free to end therapy at any time.
Where possible, I encourage us to talk about the ending together so that the therapeutic work can be appropriately concluded.
There may also be circumstances where I recommend pausing or ending therapy, for example if the work is no longer beneficial, your needs fall outside my competence, or another form of support would be more appropriate. Where appropriate, I will discuss alternative support or onward referral with you.
Before therapy begins, you will be given my Therapy Agreement to read and sign. This sets out the arrangements for our work together in more detail, including confidentiality, remote therapy, appointments, cancellations, payment, communication, professional boundaries and ending therapy.
You can also read my Privacy Notice, Safeguarding Policy and Complaints Procedure before deciding whether therapy feels right for you.
If you have any questions about how I work or would like to arrange an initial conversation, please get in touch.
